The wildfire status has been changed to ‘Being Held’. This means there is a higher level of confidence that the size of the fire will not grow any bigger and that the perimeter will hold.
CRDAC’S LATEST UPDATES
The limited fuel prevented rapid spread of the fire resulting in only an additional 300 hectares of growth. The fire currently sits at 1,600 hectares.
This afternoon, it was indicated by Alberta Forestry that the perimeter of the fire did not hold under today’s extreme fire behaviour conditions regardless of the suppression efforts put towards it.
Fire behaviour has been “favourable” so far today. The fire has not spread toward the community. There is activity on the southwest of the fire and pick up slightly due to the time of the day; similar to yesterday.
Please be advised that as of this morning it was reported that the wildfire (LWF148) is just over 1,000 hectares and remains approximately 18km west of Janvier and 32km north of Conklin.
