Labour and Business Needs Survey

DATE: March 2024

The CRDAC has successfully received a government grant to conduct a Labour and Business Needs Survey in the community of Conklin.

This survey will help our organization, government, and/or other agencies help understand and address employer needs, get a good understanding of current opportunities and challenges or barriers to employment for local residents.

The initiative will have two separate surveys:

Conklin Labour Force Survey – for Conklin residents over the age of 15.

Conklin Business Needs Survey – for businesses/industry in Conklin and surrounding area

The data from these surveys will create a baseline data for some of the following parameters:

  • Identify skills gaps/address skills shortages to allow for participation in the labour market.
  • Identify employer needs for attraction / retention of employees.
  • Gather statistics on unemployed/marginally employed Conklin residents.
  • Collect statistics to determine what skills and training is required to meet the employer needs.
  • Identify youth career pathways for the next 3-5 years in the community.
  • Identify external supports and programming to support training/employment/career development activities in community.
  • Use findings from survey to develop a strategy to address the most critical career and employment needs, with an action plan to address all priorities in the next 2 – 3 years.
  • Engage local businesses, industry, government and community in action planning exercise.

This initiative is supported by the Governments of Canada and Alberta through a grant.

THANK YOU GOVERNMENT OF CANADA AND ALBERTA FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY.
