Homelessness in Conklin

Conklin Housing Initiative

DATE: 2022-2024

The CRDAC is developing a housing plan to expand the supply of affordable housing in Conklin through its partnerships with Cenovus Energy and the Government of Alberta. As its initial phase, the CRDAC has pursued the subdivision and development of 159-163 Pine Lane, now called the Jack Pine Place Subdivision, which will support the construction of approximately 15 new single-family housing units.

In partnership with CRDAC, this multi-million dollar subdivision development is made possible through Cenovus’ Indigenous Housing Initiative and the Indigenous Housing Capital Program, a grant funding offered through the Government of Alberta.

Check out the videos below and see how the CRDAC along with our strong partners are transforming lives through sustainable housing solutions and community-driven programs.

Thank you Cenovus Energy and Government of Alberta for your support.

Subject Area: 159-163 Pine Lane, now called “Jack Pine Place Subdivision”

Education and Training

As part of this exciting initiative, the CRDAC in partnership with Portage College and Cenovus is offering the Construction and Trades Readiness Program that provides 12 weeks of academic upgrading and 12 weeks of hands-on construction training of a tiny home!

In 2021, the participants in the Program and Training have successfully constructed a 660square feet tiny home! This 1-bedroom and 1-bath unit will be part of the new subdivision at Jack Pine Place.
