Leaders from the Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee (CRDAC), the Conklin Métis Local 193 (CML) and the Conklin Community Association (CCA) together express their profound sadness at the untimely passing of Councillor Jane Stroud.
Flags in the community will fly at half-mast as commemoration.
Scott Duguid, CEO of the CRDAC commented, “Jane was a fighter for rural people in the RMWB. We could always count on her to understand and champion the cause of smaller communities and our specific needs. My heart goes out to her family.”
Valerie Quintal, President of the CML recalled their years of community service together, “I am deeply saddened by this news. I got to know Jane as a kind person with an untiring commitment to ensuring rural people in the RMWB could access basic infrastructure, housing, recreation and transportation. She understood the needs of our communities, and always worked to ensure we were not left behind. The region has lost a voice that was humble, yet powerful.”
Paul Tremblay, President of the CCA remarked on Ms. Stroud’s commitment to grassroots and Indigenous issues, “Jane was a true servant, someone who embodies public service. Her contributions to the betterment of our region are too many to list. We will deeply miss her. I hope her family can take solace in knowing that an entire region is grieving with them.”
