The Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee (CRDAC) is facilitating its 2024 annual Conklin Cultural Harvesting Camp event at Sterner Lake; located 51 kilometers East of Conklin. The CRDAC is seeking to fill various open positions to help us facilitate this years’ Conklin Cultural Harvesting Camp.

Position Type/Hours

This is a temporary – contract position working six nights maintaining and watching the camp from Wednesday, August 21 to Monday, August 26, 2024. This position will report to the CRDAC Environmental & Events Coordinator or designate.


The Security Officer will ensure the site is secure by patrolling property and monitoring equipment and access points to prevent any losses or damage. Further, the Security Officer will observe and investigate any disturbances, take notes of any unusual occurrences, and report in detail of any incidents. Other tasks delegated to the Security Officer may include hauling water for cooks, take out garbage, help keep fire going, and bring wood into tents at night, as needed.


  • Proven work experience as security is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Excellent knowledge in public safety, security, and emergency protocols. Must have a valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.   
  • Ability to remain neutral in conflicts and diffuse situations in a professional and mature manner. 

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours.
  • Ability to deal with emergencies and stressful situations.
  • This position requires the individual to sleep at the camp site. Sleeping arrangements will be determined.
