We are seeking two Surveyors who are dependable and self-driven to ensure the successful completion of our labour force and business needs surveys in the community of Conklin. As a Labour Force and Business Needs Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting interviews and collecting information from households, individuals, and businesses within and around the community of Conklin. Our ideal candidate is a resident of Conklin who is a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, has good attention to detail, and is able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct interviews with individuals and business owners/representatives in and around Conklin to collect the necessary survey data.
  • Follow survey procedures and protocols in collecting and recording data.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of data.
  • Conduct follow-up interviews as necessary to obtain missing or incomplete data.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee (CRDAC).
  • Work in and around Conklin, walking or driving to designated locations, in various kinds of weather.
  • Work in partnership with another surveyor when visiting local residences and businesses.
Qualifications:
  • Over the age of 18.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting or independently and follow procedures.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in collecting data.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic devices for data collection.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Minimum Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle and cell phone.
  • Ability to walk or drive to designated locations.
Location:

Location of work is the community of Conklin, Alberta.

Hours of Work :

When the survey is being administered in and around Conklin, the successful applicant is expected to be available to dedicate the equivalent of full-time hours (i.e. 37.5 hours per week). Further, the successful applicant must be available to work a schedule that is flexible, including weekends and evenings, as required.

Compensation:

The two surveyors will work as a team and be paid $40 per completed survey, to be split evenly between the two surveyors.

Note: There are roughly 130 residents over the age of 15 in Conklin who would be eligible to complete the Conklin Labour Force Survey and roughly 30 businesses in and around Conklin that would be eligible to complete the Conklin Business Needs Survey.

Surveyors will also be required to participate in online training and in an evening kickoff event in Conklin in April (dates still to be determined). Surveyors will be compensated at a rate of $25/hour for both events.

Surveyors will also be compensated for phone and vehicle usage during the duration of the project.

Duration:

Aside from a half day of training in early-April, the successful applicant must commit to being available for a minimum of 4 weeks starting in April to support survey execution.

Note: The exact amount of time needed will depend on a number of factors including the ability of the Surveyors to support completion of the survey by Conklin residents and businesses.
