Minimum Requirements
  • Must self-identify as Indigenous Status/Non-Status
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Have a valid full Class 5 Drivers License at the time of application ( cannot be the graduated drivers’ license GDL). If you currently have a GDL. please review this link: New driver license requirements on

Location and Other Key Details
  • Candidates with no HEO or mining experience are welcome to apply and may be selected to attend a 4-week training program at Keyano College. Above all else, we are looking for enthusiasm and willingness to learn. If you are chosen for an interview please come prepared to discuss why a career in Heavy Equipment Operating is for you!
  • Tuition costs are covered, but candidates will not be paid while attending classroom training at Keyano.
  • Upon successful completion of training, candidates may commence a paid, up to 6-month coo at the Syncrude Mildred Lake or Syncrude Aurora Mine. Placements will be determined by the business.
