POSITION TYPE:

We are seeking a Field Day Tech Operator to support our Field Lead and Field Specialist to complete business and administrative tasks, support with production optimization and enhance the safety performance of our Field Operator crews.
This position is based at our Christina Lake SAGD site near Conklin, Alberta and will be working either a 7×7 or a 14×14 shift of days only flying out of Calgary or Edmonton.

YOUR DAY TO DAY:
  • Support Field Lead to complete business tasks, optimize production, and enhance
  • safety performance including:
    o Procedure updates
    o Training manual updates
    o Mentor new hires through the training process
    o Assist with job planning for projects, line pigging SSI and PM updates
    o SLPI coaching.
  • Provide coverage for Field Lead and on field runs as required.
  • Sign off and operate all Field areas, maintain a clean work area and vehicle, manage tools and equipment.
  • Maintain descriptive and accurate daily operator log, complete weekly/monthly and annual EHS PMs including submitting service requests into Maximo for corrective actions required.
  • Effectively communicate non-routine activities with co-workers and leadership.
  • Lead non routine activities such as confined space entry, and pipeline start-ups.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are in place and followed
  • Upload MEG Energy’s high environmental standards by promptly reporting leaks and rectifying the issue.
  • Execute work in accordance with MEG Energy’s standards and procedures.
  • Work with multiple business units at site including Health and Safety, Environment, Drilling and Completions, and Production Engineering
  • Participate/facilitate daily toolbox meetings, submit Hazard IDs and present safety moments
  • Support Project groups with regards to new well pads, and well pad extensions
  • Assist in commissioning activities as required
  • Oversee the creation, organization, and installation of LOTO’s for maintenance, commissioning and Drillings Rigs
WHAT YOU BRING TO MEG:
  • 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate is required
  • H2S Alive, TDG, WHMIS, Standard First Aid, Confined Space Entry and Rescue certifications are required.
  • A Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract is required.
  • 2+ years’ experience in SAGD is preferred, but other related steam plant, process plant or well pad operations experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures in a plant/field opera􀆟ng environment is required.
  • Experience and willingness to work with a multi-discipline team is required.
  • Knowledge of operations and maintenance work planning is required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Previous experience demonstrating leadership skills in work coordination, troubleshooting or special projects is an asset.
