An update from Alberta Forestry:
This afternoon, it was indicated by Alberta Forestry that the perimeter of the fire did not hold under today’s extreme fire behaviour conditions regardless of the suppression efforts put towards it.
What does that mean?
We can expect significant growth in the size of the fire by the end of the day but all to the North, away from the communities. However, it is unfortunate because the bigger the fire, the larger the perimeter to manage, to a point these fires become too big to contain and now the strategy changes to steering the fire away from values at risk.
