Kettle River Complex Wildfire Status

LWF136
The status of this wildfire is OUT OF CONTROL, and it is located approximately 12 km northwest of the community of Janvier. It is currently estimated at 765 ha. Today, crews will continue to reinforce the containment lines using water pumps and hoses. Heavy equipment has completed the construction of the guard around the fire’s perimeter. Ground crews will continue to establish hoselines on the guard south. Helicopters are ready to support crews and heavy equipment, if necessary.

This wildfire was detected July 16. It is classified as OUT OF CONTROL at 465 ha. There are industrial facilities within a 10 km radius to the wildfires. This wildfire is being monitored for growth and fire activity.
LWF164
This wildfire was detected July 17. It is located approximately 12km northeast of Conklin and south of Highway 881. It is classified as OUT OF CONTROL at 1054 ha. There are six firefighters six pieces heavy equipment assigned to this wildfire. Heavy equipment groups were able to complete construction of guard on the fire west of Highway 881, which is now complete. Today, a Firetack crew will establish hoselines along the dozer guard on the west side of Highway 881, and heavy equipment will continue to establish a dozer guard along the east and south sides of the wildfire. Today an assessor will be coming in to look at alternate water delivery methods along the Meg Energy Rd. east of the fire.

The forecast for Wednesday is 24C. Northeasterly are expected at 10/15km/h (gusts up to 30km/h). Strong winds develop on Thursday July 25, 2024 with southwest gusts up to 50km/h. Heavy rain may occur on Friday.
