Kettle River Complex Fire Update
LWF 136
LFW136 (Janvier fire) they are making good progress on this one. They have dozer guards around the leading edge and have a crew of 60 working that fire. They are using water bombers and helicopters.
LWF 152
LFW152/155 (MEG Fire). They are also making progress on this fire. They have dozer guards built on the leading edge and are using water bombers and helicopters. There is a crew of 20 working that fire.
LWF 164
LFW164 (Conklin Fire). Got to 10km north of Conklin and stopped its southern progress toward the community due to swamps. The fire is moving east. They now have a crew of 20 and heavy equipment building dozer guards and ground fighting the fire. They are also using water bombers and helicopters.
LWF 169
LWF169 is a new fire that has been located. It is 21 km NW of the Leismer Aerodrome. It’s 10km west of Athabasca Oilsands Corporation (AOC). AOC is on notification for evacuation as the only way out is Waddell Road. They will begin waterbombing this one this evening. It is 70 ha now.
The incident command centre is now at ConocoPhillips. Please note that the CRDAC is committed to getting updates for our members of community. Scott Duguid, CEO of CRDAC, has daily briefings with the Command Centre including one at 8:30 am and another at 4:30 pm. He is also meeting with RMWB at 7 pm.
