LWF090 remains out of control and is currently estimated at 61,551 hectares. The wildfire is located approximately 17 km east of Conklin.
Operational Update
- Structure protection efforts continue in coordination between Alberta Wildfire and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB).
- Eight cabins on the north side of Christina Lake have been outfitted with protection measures, with work ongoing over the next several days.
- Fire crews have made progress on fire guard construction around the community, with completion expected this evening.
Smoke and Weather Conditions
- Heavy smoke is visible in the area due to LWF090 and additional wildfires to the west in the Slave Lake Forest Area.
- Fire behaviour has decreased overnight, aided by cooler temperatures and moisture.
- Rain showers are forecast to continue intermittently through this evening and into Monday afternoon, which may help firefighting efforts.

Sunday has a high of 15°C. Periods of rain ending in the afternoon then a mix of sun and cloud is expected. Winds coming out of the Northwest at 30 km/h gusting to 50-55 km/h.
