Presented by Kingdom Cats, 92 golfers gathered at the Lac La Biche Golf & Country Club on May 27 to raise funds for education, training, and post-secondary student support for the Conklin community with a set goal of $20,000. The day was filled with fun, golf, and networking, with strong representation from Conklin and surrounding Indigenous communities. Most importantly, it was an opportunity to come together, build community capacity and opportunity.
The smiles and laughter heard throughout the day reflected just how much everyone was enjoying the event in support of a great cause. Tournament participants and supporters included representatives from the oil and gas industry, business partners, local Conklin businesses, and various local companies and organizations that are actively engaged with the community of Conklin.
A delicious steak dinner was served by the award-winning Pasture + Market restaurant, followed by a refreshing ice cream dessert provided by Bessma’s Ice Cream.
Total net funds raised through sponsorships, raffles, and fun activities throughout the day:

In addition to those funds, other funds were raised towards the Spain 2027 Conklin School Travel Fund. A special shout out to Harvest Energy with a $3,000 donation to kick start the funding for the Conklin School, followed up by cash donations that was generously matched by Chipewyan Prairie Industry Relations Corp., a generous donation from the Chard Métis Nation which will be split between the Conklin School Travel Fund and Conklin Culture Harvest Camp, and finally, 50/50 sales—totaling to an incredible $10,952 for the Conklin School Travel Fund, and a great funding start towards the total funding goal of $49,000.
Highlights of the day included the Seven Lakes Chip in the Bin contest, the Bannock Hole with Linda Novak and Sherry Tremblay that was a big hit, and the Lynco Energy Services hula hoop competition. Congratulations to all those golfers winning a category or prizes.
